Terms, privacy, safety, and AI consent

DueFolder helps families organize household paperwork, tasks, deadlines, and follow-ups. This page explains how documents are processed, how household access works, and what responsibilities remain with the user when using AI-assisted document review.

1. Terms of service

DueFolder provides software for organizing household mail, deadlines, tasks, and family follow-ups. The service is intended for personal and household use and is designed to help family members coordinate care, bills, and important documents.

DueFolder is not a law firm, medical provider, financial advisor, insurer, or government agency. We do not provide legal, medical, financial, or insurance advice, and the app’s summaries, reminders, or extracted information should not be treated as authority on legal obligations, medical instructions, or financial commitments.

You are responsible for confirming all critical dates, payment amounts, deadlines, insurance details, and legal notices against the original document before acting, paying, or making a decision.

If a document is time-sensitive, legally significant, medically important, or financially consequential, the user should verify the information directly with the original sender, provider, insurer, or advisor before relying on it.

2. Safety when uploading documents

Only upload documents that you are authorized to share, including mail for your household, your parent, or another person you are legitimately managing on their behalf.

Do not upload highly sensitive information beyond what is necessary for household coordination, document review, or task management. If a document contains personal identifiers, account numbers, or confidential details, only upload what is necessary for the service to function.

DueFolder stores uploaded files in private, access-controlled storage and restricts access to authorized household members or users who are part of the relevant household. No digital system is perfect, and users should not upload documents that they are unwilling to store in a digital environment.

Photos should be clear and legible. Blurry, skewed, handwritten, or heavily cropped documents may result in poor extraction and incorrect summaries. Users are responsible for reviewing the original document when the result is important.

3. AI processing

DueFolder may use AI to process uploaded documents for tasks such as extraction, document classification, summarization, deadline detection, and task creation. This may involve sending uploaded image files and extracted text to an AI service for analysis.

AI can misread handwriting, poorly scanned text, unusual formatting, blurred images, or partial pages. It may infer dates, amounts, deadlines, or obligations incorrectly. AI outputs are helpful but not guaranteed to be accurate.

By agreeing to the AI consent checkbox during onboarding, you confirm that you understand DueFolder may use AI to process household documents for extraction and summarization, and that AI may make mistakes.

DueFolder does not sell personal data. Uploaded documents are used to provide the service, including document scanning, task creation, family summaries, account support, and household coordination.

4. User responsibility and final review

You remain solely responsible for any decisions or actions taken based on DueFolder’s summaries, extracted facts, tasks, notifications, reminders, or AI-generated content.

Do not treat AI-generated results as a substitute for the original document, legal counsel, doctor advice, insurer guidance, or financial advice. Always confirm critical details before paying bills, missing deadlines, making decisions, or acting on a notice.

DueFolder may flag uncertainty in extraction scores or confidence levels, but final judgment remains with the human user. If a document affects medical care, legal rights, insurance, housing, taxes, or other regulated matters, verify the information directly with the appropriate professional or institution.

5. Privacy, household access, and deletion

Uploaded documents and related metadata are stored in private, access-controlled storage for the purpose of providing the service. We do not sell personal data.

Households may share files with one another when they are part of the same family group, but access is limited to authorized household members and users you explicitly invite or approve. Information is not shared broadly beyond the relevant household unless required for account support or legal compliance.

Users may request deletion of their account or documents by contacting hello@duefolder.com. In those cases, we will process the request in line with our account deletion workflow and applicable legal obligations.

Messages sent through our feedback or account-recovery forms, including any contact email and account details voluntarily supplied, are available to authorized support administrators so they can respond, improve the service, or verify an account-recovery request. Do not submit passwords, verification codes, payment details, or identity documents through these forms.

We may retain limited data to maintain service security, protect against fraud, resolve account issues, or comply with legal and operational requirements.

6. Consent acknowledgment

By using DueFolder and uploading documents, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old, that you have authority to upload and share the documents in question, that you understand the service uses AI to process documents, that AI output may contain mistakes, and that you are responsible for verifying critical facts before relying on them.
